9/28/09 - CDM Goes Pink to Support Breast Cancer Awareness

Charleston, SC (September 28, 2009) – Corporate DevelopMint is showing its support for breast cancer awareness by painting its headquarters in Charleston pink. As part of this year’s Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure, local businesses who support the cause compete for “pinkest” storefront in the “Lowcountry Pink for the Cure” contest.

"As a woman owned business in a woman-dominated industry, supporting this terrific cause just made sense for us as a company,” said Leigh Danley, Corporate DevelopMint’s Project Coordinator. “Personally, I serve on the Public Relations committee because I believe so strongly in the cause and the brave women who fight this fight every day and in getting the message out to as many people as we can."

In addition to windows and doors being adorned with pink ribbons, first graders at Springfield Elementary School helped show their support by coloring and decorating three dozen pink paper dolls. Ms. Linn’s class learned about Race for the Cure through Corporate DevelopMint CEO Stacy Oldfield’s daughter and decided they wanted to help. Their paper dolls now cover CDM’s front door, arms linked, under the banner “Build Awareness. Race for the Cure.”

The 5K race that has been raising money for breast cancer research for over 25 years will be run on Daniel Island October 17th. To learn more about the Lowcountry Chapter’s effort, the race, and the Susan G. Komen organization, please visit: komenlowcountry.org .

About Susan G. Komen

Susan G. Komen fought breast cancer with her heart, body and soul. Throughout her diagnosis, treatments, and endless days in the hospital, she spent her time thinking of ways to make life better for other women battling breast cancer instead of worrying about her own situation. That concern for others continued even as Susan neared the end of her fight. Moved by Susan’s compassion for others and committed to making a difference, Nancy G. Brinker promised her sister that she would do everything in her power to end breast cancer forever. That promise is now Susan G. Komen for the Cure®, the global leader of the breast cancer movement, having invested more than $1 billion since inception in 1982.
