5/20/09 - The Truth About What Nonprofit Boards Want Launches
Charleston, SC (May 20, 2009) – President June Bradham’s first book, The Truth About What Nonprofit Boards Want, makes its debut online and in bookstores nationwide May 20th. This book, based on interviews with high value board members from around the world, uncovers the truth about what encourages board members to engage, contribute meaningfully to their organizations and give like never before.
“After 30 years as a fundraiser,” says June, “I thought there were no more surprises. These interviews with some of the finest, sharpest board members around proved me wrong. These findings, along with the new assessment model we’ve created to help organizations make positive changes to their board dynamics, provide a truly new way of looking at those partners who support us every day—our boards.”
The book, published by Wiley & Sons, breaks down lessons of board dynamics and engagement into nine chapters, each dispelling a myth and unveiling a truth about boards. Each section highlights a real-life board experience and concludes with recommendations and analysis based on June’s findings, her firm’s prior research, and her decades of experience as both a fundraiser and a board member herself.
Already, this book is receiving rave endorsements from experts in the field. Timothy Burcham, Former International Board Chairman, Association of Fundraising Professionals and current Vice President at Kentucky Community and Technical College System said, “The Truth does an outstanding job of dispelling the myths about working with boards that can often jeopardize our fundraising success. The stories are compelling and should serve as a ‘textbook’ for all of us who rely on the involvement and commitment of our board members to raise funds."
The Truth is available now at amazon.com and wiley.com and where fine books are sold.
