3/30/09 - June Bradham Invited to Join Board of Largest Fundraising Association in the World
Charleston, SC (March 30, 2009) Corporate DevelopMint’s Founder and President, June Bradham, has been invited to join the board of the Association of Fundraising Professionals (AFP) International. June has been an AFP member since 1980, achieved her CFRE in 1985 and served on the board of her local AFP chapter prior to joining the International board.
AFP is a professional association of individuals responsible for generating philanthropic support for a wide variety of nonprofit charitable organizations. June will serve on the Education and Training Committee of AFP’s International Board. This crucial committee leads the board in setting the strategic direction through quality assurance, identification of new markets, and solidifying relationships with strategic partners. Among other activities, June will lead efforts to develop and refine educational programming, propose new teaching models to reach new constituencies and identify ways to co-brand education products with new partners, both non-profit and for-profit.
“We are honored to have June join the board of AFP,” said Paulette V. Maehara, CFRE, CAE, president and CEO of AFP. “She brings a wealth of knowledge and experience not only about fundraising, but also non-profit leadership, which is so important in these times. Her unique perspective will be so valuable, and we look forward to her contributions to both AFP and the fundraising community in the coming years.”
Most recently, AFP has published the results of its annual 2008 State of Fundraising Survey which shows that last year was the most difficult fundraising year over the past decade and that 2009 will be equally challenging. Additional information about the survey can be found on the AFP website (www.afpnet.org).
“I’m very excited to serve in a leadership role for the AFP and for the charitable sector,” said June. “This is one of the most challenging environments for fundraising that charities have seen in my 30 years as a fundraiser, and it’s critical that AFP provide leadership, guidance and best practices to charities to ensure that critical services and programs continue to reach those who need them most. I’m honored to be a part of AFP’s leadership team.”
Having participated in her first board meeting at the AFP – International conference in New Orleans at the end of March, June will continue to serve the board throughout the year as fundraiser, AFP ambassador and committee member of the Professional Advancement Division.
